Join us for an intimate fireside chat with Grade Delgado, the current Director of Texas Initiatives at the English Learners Success Forum. Delgado has over 30 years of experience, and is the former Executive Director of Multilingual Services at Aldine ISD, where she oversaw one of the most robust dual language and ESL programs in Texas.

 

This fireside chat will be hosted by Sylvia Ibarra Delgado, ThinkCERCA’s MLL expert and Success Manager. This conversation will explore the leadership mindset, policy shifts, and classroom practices that have driven success in one of the most linguistically diverse districts in the country. This fireside chat is reflective dialogue on what it takes to move beyond compliance—and toward true equity—for emergent bilingual students.

Grace Delgado

Texas Initiatives at the English Learners Success Forum

 

Altagracia "Grace" Delgado has devoted 30 years to education, serving as a bilingual teacher, literacy coach, and both a school and central office administrator. A passionate advocate for students in special populations, she collaborates with various organizations to ensure they receive the support and resources they need. Grace serves as a Board Member of the Texas Association for Bilingual Education and an Advisory Board Member for Assessment for Good, a project of the Advanced Education Research & Development Fund, as well as the Houston Christian University’s Women in Leadership Program. Her expertise has been featured in Education Week, the Seidlitz Education Blog, and the English Learners Success Forum publication Materials Matter: Parity and Quality for Spanish Language Arts. Grace  is the Director of Texas Initiative for the English Learners Success Forum, or ELSF,  a collaboration of researchers, teachers, district leaders, and funders who are passionate about improving the quality and accessibility of instructional materials for English learners. She earned a master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, and also holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Education and Spanish from the University of Puerto Rico, where she was born and raised. Grace resides in Houston, TX, with her husband of 30 years and their three children.
