How to Incorporate All Three Types of Writing Across Your School or District
As every district and school leader knows, the adoption of new state standards over the last several years has placed an increased emphasis on writing. Rigorous writing standards require students to develop their argumentative, informational/explanatory, as well as narrative writing skills.
However, a report from the Reading and Writing journal last year revealed that one in five teachers were not familiar with the writing and language standards. What’s more, “most did not feel that professional development efforts have been sufficient to achieve successful implementation.”
In this webinar, former Boston Public Schools district leader and ThinkCERCA’s Director of Professional Learning and School Design, Kavita Venkatesh, will share how instructional leaders can implement all three types of writing across their school or district while providing teachers with the necessary supports to adequately teach writing across subjects.
School and district leaders will walk away with a plan for implementing effective, standards-aligned writing programs into their curriculum to prepare students for growth on assessments.
